eMinerals [Earth Sciences] : eIUS e-Infrastructure Case Study
The eIUS Project highlights the successful use of e-Infrastructure. Researchers at the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Cambridge, are making use of grid computing and a range of e-infrastructure tools to better understand the molecular properties of minerals such as silica through simulations and visualisation. The eMinerals toolkit enables the computation of multiple, simultaneous simulations and the subsequent data representation and management. Examples of e-Infrastructure cited include ccViz for visualising Chemical Markup Language XML, Storage Resource Broker, and grid submission tools. The eIUS Project is funded by the JISC and supported by the University of Oxford and the University of Manchester.
